Where Loyalist history meets
the casino floor.

The Resort & Casino

A claret-and-gold casino,
on a Loyalist-era street.

The Loyalist is a heritage resort and casino set behind a colonial townhouse front on Queen Street, in the oldest quarter of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Inside, a properly-appointed casino floor opens off the hall — fifty-five tables and gaming positions, a corner card room and rows of slot machines and electronic terminals — with tall windows looking out over a town whose loyalist streets have barely changed since the United Empire Loyalists first settled this stretch of the Niagara Parkway.

This is the offline casino, scaled to a heritage town. Blackjack, roulette and baccarat are dealt across a warm, high-ceilinged room; craps and sic bo add a bit of noise on a Friday; and the private Vintner's Salon — named for the wine-country estates just beyond town — keeps higher stakes behind a heavy panelled door. Every table is run by trained staff, stakes posted plainly, and a first visit made easy by hosts who know the room.

Around the gaming, the hotel keeps its own quiet rhythm: six restaurants and bars, a vineyard terrace for an evening glass, a spa tucked into the old cellars and a candlelit stage that shares the town's love of live theatre. A night at The Loyalist can be all casino or barely any — Lake Ontario outside, and the choice, are entirely yours.

The Loyalist Experience

An offline casino, on a Loyalist-era street.

There's a difference between a casino on a screen and one you reach by walking a heritage street. At The Loyalist, the casino floor is a room you can feel — the clatter of chips, the turn of a wheel, low voices under tall colonial windows. This is a land-based casino built for a town that has always looked out to the lake, long before the tables arrived.

The gaming here is classic and unhurried. Take a seat at blackjack and play through a shoe, watch a run at baccarat, or step up to a high-limit table in the Vintner's Salon. In the Ranger's Card Room, cash games and weeknight heats keep a steady table; along the window, rows of slot machines and electronic terminals catch the last of the daylight. Every game is posted with clear stakes, and hosts are always glad to talk a newcomer through the rules.

The Loyalist is a proper resort in miniature — you needn't step outside all weekend. Play through the afternoon, dine on Niagara wine-country produce, take a glass on the vineyard terrace at dusk and sleep behind thick heritage walls with the lake for company. A short drive from the Shaw Festival and along the Niagara Parkway, it turns an evening at the tables into a proper Ontario break.

And because a good casino looks after its guests, care is built into every table. Set your own limits, take a break, or have a quiet word with a host whenever you like. The Loyalist is strictly 19+, with photo ID checked at the door — a warm, grown-up room where the game stays exactly that: a pleasure.
